On September 30th, 2020, Lewis Bass International Engineering Services, Inc. was officially listed with the Small Business Administration (SBA) as a certified woman owned small business (WOSB), a pathway for which the company can now claim additional government contracts and mandatory quota allotments in federal contracts that must feature a guaranteed minimum percentage of disadvantaged and/or diverse applicants.
We are proud of our WOSB certification through the U.S. Woman’s Chamber of Commerce and look forward to playing a wider role in larger projects both locally and nationally. About the USWCC’s WOSB Program
To help provide a level playing field for women business owners, the government limits competition for certain contracts to businesses that participate in the women’s contracting program.
These contracts are for industries where women-owned small businesses (WOSB) are underrepresented. Some contracts are restricted further to economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses (EDWOSB). The SBA maintains a list of those eligible industries and their NAICS codes.
Joining the WOSB Federal Contracting Program makes a business eligible to compete for federal contracts set aside for the program. Firms can still compete for contract awards under other socioeconomic programs they qualify for.
The U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce is an approved 3rd Party Certifier for the federal government Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Program as authorized by section 811 of the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 2000, Public Law 106-554 (15 U.S. C. 637(m)).
